Biological Consulting and Monitoring
We offer a broad range of biological and consulting services based on our scientific backgrounds and practical experience. Our knowledge and experience in Hawaii has magnified the importance of a holistic approach to developing management plans, research projects, and restoration areas. We also provide monitoring and oversight on private and public construction sites with NEPA and USFWS requirements.
Ecological Surveys and Research
We are experienced in designing and implementing ecological surveys and producing scientific reports for the identification, abundance, and/or distribution of flora and fauna here in Hawaii. We specialize in working with endangered biota and identifying breeding locations of cryptic species. Having spent years working in the remote mountains of Kauai, we know how to access and work in hard-to-reach environments where target species may be difficult to find. Whether you are seeking a short term survey to identify species presence or a multi-year monitoring project to determine long term species viability and resilience, we have a solution.
Environmental Compliance
We are able to assist private and public entities in meeting environmental compliance requirements associated with federal or state permits, environmental impact statements, and habitat conservation plans. Whether it be surveying, monitoring, or reporting, we provide turn-key biological services based on regulatory requirements so that you can focus on the task at hand. We work to ensure effective communication between clients and regulatory organizations so that work stoppage is nonexistent. Some of our past projects have included those on U.S. Department of Defense and Department of Transportation properties, in Aircraft Operating Areas, Live Fire Ranges, and other high-security sites requiring strict adherence to substantial safety protocols and extensive background checks.
Native Habitat Restoration
We can help you restore your land back to the beautiful and natural habitat that has become a rarity in Hawaii today. Whether you are looking for botanical recommendations, a complete landscape plan, out-planting of native specimens, non-native species removal or bioengineering techniques, we are here for you. No project is too big or too small. The proper assemblage of native species in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems will limit soil erosion, improve water quality, and mitigate damage from floodwaters. Depending on the type of project you are planning, we can also assist with federal and state grant applications.
Invasive Species Removal
Living and working in the endangered species capital of the world, we understand the benefits of removing invasive species in our fragile island ecosystem. By using a range of techniques including trapping and hunting of introduced predators, and mechanical and chemical removal of alien plants, we provide a direct benefit to our Hawaiian wildlife. We are happy to create an invasive species mitigation plan based on project requirements, and implement strategies necessary to quickly and humanely remove non-native species from the environment.
